BREAKING DOWN THE BREAK IN
Some interesting statistics regarding home break-ins collected using data from the FBI. Nearly 10% could have been prevented simply by ensuring all doors were securely locked. Front door entry represented another 20% of residential break-ins. Below are four fixes you could implement to help burglar proof your front door.
1. Make it clear your front door is under surveillance and add lighting.
2. Replace your front door with a solid core wood door or metal door.
3. Reinforce your door jamb. Your local hardware store carries frame and hinge reinforcement kits like strike master.
4. Replace your deadbolt and strike plate with door armor kit or security strike plate.
